Mechanical Pruning

Jan-march 020 pruningWe utilize a Pellenc T100 prepruning attachment connected to a Braud SB65 tractor to mechanically preprune grapevines. During the dormant season our prepruner uses a series of blades which run along the vines cutting shoots to the desired length.

Some highlights of mechanical pruning are as follows:

• Fewer people required to complete pruning

• Effective tool to combat Eutypa infections in your vineyard

• Dual-pruning method used in frost-prone areas to delay budbreak and insure fruit production

• Removed material is mulched into small pieces and falls to the ground

• Over-the-row tractor minimizes compaction in the root zone
